01 /the problem
a hotel next to baltimore/washington airport sold park-and-fly parking through a third-party marketplace. every booking paid a platform fee, and the customer and transaction data belonged to someone else.
the business wanted its own booking flow—without making travellers work harder than they did on the marketplace.
02 /what i built
search that matches how people travel
pick the lot, check-in and checkout dates and times, and see availability immediately—with a live count of open spots.
inventory and pricing
parking inventory is tracked per lot and time window, with daily rates, tax, and per-day county fees calculated the same way everywhere.
a short, honest checkout
guest, vehicle, and payment details on one page, with a booking summary that never changes between steps.
self-serve bookings
travellers can find and manage their own bookings, so the front desk handles fewer calls.

03 /key decisions
- 01
one time zone, stated out loud
the lot is in eastern time, and every date and time is shown in it—with a label saying so. a traveller booking from another time zone never arrives to a reservation that starts an hour late.
- 02
show the whole price before payment
rate × days, tax, and county fee are itemised on the availability screen and repeated at checkout, so the total never surprises anyone.
- 03
answer arrival questions up front
shuttle hours, the vehicle tag at the front desk, and the lot address sit next to the booking button—the questions people would otherwise call about.
04 /the result
around 400 bookings a month now go direct. at roughly $1 saved per booking, that's about $4.8k a year back to the business—plus customer and transaction data it actually owns.
